These pages are run by Melanie Bokstad Horev, an independent author. There is no company behind them and no data is sold to anyone, ever.
No name, no email address, and no account. Nothing on these pages asks you to identify yourself, and the chapter is free to read without giving anything.
These pages use the Meta (Facebook) pixel so that advertising can be measured and improved. The pixel records the anonymous activity described above and sends it to Meta, which allows reporting on which ads lead to people actually reading.
A setting called automatic advanced matching is switched on for this pixel. It only does anything when a form is submitted, and there are no forms on these pages, so at present nothing personal is passed to Meta by it. Meta's own handling of the data it does receive is governed by Meta's privacy policy.
Links on these pages lead to Amazon. Some carry an Amazon Attribution tag, which tells us — in aggregate only — how many people who clicked went on to borrow or buy. It does not identify you, and it tells us nothing about your Amazon account, your browsing there, or anything else you do on Amazon. Once you land on Amazon, their own privacy policy applies.
The Meta pixel sets cookies to recognise return visits. These pages also store a Facebook click identifier in your browser's local storage, which is used to connect an ad click to a later action. You can clear both at any time through your browser settings, and blocking them will not stop any page from working — the chapter will still be there to read.
You can block cookies and tracking in your browser or with an extension, and nothing here will break — the chapter will still be there to read. You can ask what information is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, and it will be.
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, you also have rights under the GDPR, including the right to access, correct, erase, or port your data, and the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
These books are written for adults, and these pages are not directed at children under 13. No information is knowingly collected from them.
